Street Kitchen – Chicken wings with lemon and thyme

In partnership with the portal Street Kitchen, Hírország provides English translations for some of the most exquisite recipes. The portal Street Kitchen was created by the Hungarian gastronomy expert, Zé Fördős and his brother, Peti. Zé fell in love with gastronomy at the age of five, when his grandparents showed him the kitchen of their restaurant, Alba Régia. Between the ages of eight and nine, Zé wrote his first cookbook, containing simple recipes. He acquired a degree in Gastronomy Management at Budapest Business School and has published several cookbooks since childhood. His portal contains recipes of the most brutal and hearty meals.

In our second translation we introduce chicken wings with lemon and thyme.

Ingredients for two people:

  • 10 chicken wings
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2-3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 small bundle of fresh thyme

Preparation:

1. Put salt, pepper, garlic powder and olive oil on the wings.

2. Grate some lemon peel and squeeze the juice of half of a lemon on top.

3. Tear and add some thyme leaves and massage everything thoroughly into the meat.

4. Put a baking sheet onto a tray and put the wings on top. Add half of a lemon.

5. Heat the oven to 200 C/392 F and bake the wings for 50 minutes, until they become golden brown. Turn the baking tray at 25 minutes.

This recipe was shared by Ákos Forási. Ákos knew already as a child, that there was a great deal at stake. So much so that he spent every time he could in the kitchen, trying to learn his father’s culinary tricks. The apple did not fall far from the tree. Leaving the family pit he started building his own career in the field of gastronomy. He tried hospitality, went through all the ranks of chefs and then decided to let his own voice heard and his own culinary style be seen – by joining the team of Street Kitchen. “Everything, that is gastronomy!” – this is the philosophy of Ákos, who is a huge fan of roasts, flavours with characters, a cavalcade of herbs and easy but hearty meals. These unite in his recipes spiced with a bit of humour. If you are looking for a shell-proof, brutal recipe we can guarantee that he will not disappoint you.
